Sergeant . Irwin Harold Wiskar (1107254)
68 Sqdn., Wireless Operator. Royal Airforce Volunteer Reserve who died on the 18th May 1941 at Allscot, Wellington, Shropshire, aged 32 years. The Blenheim aircraft L8675 based at nearby RAF High Ercall stalled and spun into the ground killing both Irwin Wiskar and Pilot Officer Geoffrey Robert Butcher. Born in South Bank. The son of Frank Marshall Wiskar and Agnes Martha Wiskar of Windy Ridge, Elgin Avenue, Grangetown. Husband of Dorothy Emily Wiskar of Penrith, Cumberland. “At Rest” Remembered With Honour Eston Cemetery. P.75

Ronald Richard Carman 1914838
Ronald Richard Carman was killed on Dunkirk beach. He was one of the many men waiting for evacuation by boats (Operation Dynamo), unfortunately before he managed to go any further the planes above him shot and killed him and many others around him. He was born in 124 West Row, California Bank, Eston. When he left for the war he had a 14 year old son.

H.M.S. Bellona, Royal Navy, who died on the 15th January 1946, aged 31 years. The son of John William and Gertrude Mary Clingo, husband of Edith Clingo of 88 Nelson Street, South Bank. For Ever In Our Thoughts Remembered With Honour Eston Cemetery. K.268

Royal Engineers who died on the 14th July 1945 aged 38 years. Born in Manchester. The son of William and Kate Cripps of Grangetown and the husband of Annie Cripps, 22 Creswell Road in Grangetown. Their son Walter Jnr, had been accidentally killed in Nottinghamshire in September 1941. At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them Remembered With Honour Eston Cemetery. Women's Auxiliary Air Force, who died on the 13th April 1944 aged 21 years. The Daughter of Andrew and Jane Stevenson of 4 The Birches , Teesville. Her father was a Foreman Shipwright , whilst Janet was initially a ARP Warden (Air Raid Precautions) She Lives In Our Hearts Beloved And Unforgotten. George Thomas Burke , Merchant Navy.
Who died onboard the British Steam Merchant vessel, Empire Heron on the 16th October 1941, aged 21 years. Following the ship being hit by torpedoes fired from a German U-Boat, whilst part of a convoy, South East of Cape Farewell. New Zealand. The ship quicky sank, killing all but one of the 43 crew. The sole survivor died the next night when HMS Gladiolus was also torpedoed and sank. Remembered With Honour Tower Hill Memorial . Panel 42. also commemorated on family memorial in Eston Cemetery.
