Victoria Cross Trust – Eston Memorial Restoration

The Eston Remembrance Committee work tirelessly with and for the local community on not only the annual parade but also on other projects. The Committee would therefore like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Victoria Cross Trust for their support by cleaning our cenotaph and surrounding area in Eston. We are incredibly grateful for the work this remarkable charity has carried out. Their contribution means the world to us and the local community.

Eston Remembrance Garden

For the past several years, the ERC has taken responsibility to care for and maintain the Eston Remembrance Garden. Over the years, the Garden has been added to with a beautiful mural by our resident artist — and ERC member — Phil Meadows, as well as flowers, planters, community art stones and other elements. We are currently in the process of adding additional features including a wall to insert plaques of those who were lost in service, as well as a book of remembrance.

Not Just a Name

In October 2024, the ERC launched the Not Just a Name project, seeking to reveal the rich stories behind the names on the Eston Service Memorial. Every name on the memorial was a person with a life, a family, and a story — and this project aims to tell those stories.

If you have a loved one or relative listed on the Eston War Memorial, please consider sharing their story with us. We're looking for photos, birth details and family information; schools they attended and their early employment; service details, such as locations or battles they served in; and decorations, memorial items, and final resting places.

Our aim is to create A3 vinyl banners, each featuring a unique story, that will be displayed around Eston during the Remembrance period.
