413(R.C.A F.) Sqdn, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who was Killed In Action on the 22/23 October 1941, aged 29 years. He was aboard Catalina AH566 stationed at Sullom Voe on the Shetlands, they were shot down off Tromso in Norway, one of the crews bodies was recovered for burial...Leonard and 8 others were lost beneath the waves. The son of Richard and Sarah Elizabeth Harris of 26 Guisborough Street, Eston. The headstone states the date of his death as the 23rd whilst the Commonwealth Graves Commission state the 22nd Remembered With Honour Runnymede Memorial, Panel 44. also commemorated on family memorial in Eston Cemetery.
